Blaine, a short drive south on Highway 65, holds the closest large employers. Aveda keeps its global headquarters there on a campus of more than 58 acres housing corporate offices, research and development, manufacturing and a Midwest distribution center, and Infinite Campus is headquartered minutes east. Medtronic operates its worldwide operational headquarters in Fridley, and Allina Health runs Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids.
 

Roads and Getting Here

Viking Boulevard, signed as Anoka County Road 22, crosses east toward Interstate 35, where the 35E and 35W branches merge at the junction locals call the Forest Lake split. Anyone comparing apartments near Minneapolis, MN should know downtown sits about 30 miles south, with Lino Lakes and the 35W corridor closer for a Saint Paul commute. This is car country, so the private garage on every lease is doing real work.
 

Parks and Recreation

Carlos Avery Wildlife Management Area begins a few miles east and covers roughly 25,000 acres, the largest of its kind in the Twin Cities metro, with sandhill cranes among its summer residents. Coon Lake County Park, 125 acres on the largest lake in Anoka County, sits in neighboring Columbus with a swimming beach and boat launch. Bunker Hills Regional Park in Andover is the bigger destination southwest.
 

Shopping and Dining

Route 65 Pub and Grub is the neighborhood default, with Maxx Bar and Grill in Ham Lake. Northtown Mall in Blaine offers nearby enclosed shopping, busier since Asia Village opened there in June 2026.
